بهداشت دهان در دوره بارداری : تاثیر سلامت لثه مادر باردار بر سلامت مادر و جنین ثابت شده است.
حاملگی به تنهایی باعث بروز التهاب و بیماری های لثه نمی شود و حضور جرم و پلاک برای ایجاد التهاب لثه لازم است.
در حضور جرم و پلاک بر روی دندان ها، التهاب لثه بخصوص در دوران بارداری افزایش می یابد. افزایش التهاب لثه از ماه 2 و 3 شروع شده و تا ماه 8 شدیدتر می شود و در طی ماه نهم کاهش می یابد.
جرم و پلاک عوامل اصلی التهاب لثه و بیماری های لثه هستند. پس با رعایت بهداشت و استفاده مرتب و دقیق از مسواک و نخ دندان و سایر لوازم بهداشتی و مراجعه مرتب به دندانپزشک قبل از دوران بارداری، حین بارداری و بعد از آن سلامت خود و جنین خود را تحت تاثیر قرار خواهید داد.
معاینه دندانپزشکی و رفع مشکلات دندانی قبل از اقدام به باردار شدن الزامی است زیرا در طی بارداری هم درمان مشکلات دندانی دشوارتر است و هم اعمالی چون تهیه رادیوگرافی و تجویز مسکن ها و آنتی بیوتیک ها میتوانند روی جنین اثر سوء داشته باشند.

شواهد علمی به طور قاطع نشان داده است که بیماری های لثه می توانند اثرات منفی فراوانی بر جنین و نوزاد داشته باشد.
در بین زنانی که نوزادان با وزن کم (وزن زیر 2500گرم) به دنیا آورده اند، مقادیر شدت بیماری های لثه بیشتر بوده است. بنابراین بیماریهای لثه همچون مصرف دخانیات ، الکل ، برخی از داروها، افزایش فشار خون حاملگی، بالا بودن سن مادر، بیماری قند(دیابت) وعفونت های دستگاه ادراری تناسلی، خطر به دنیا آمدن کودکان با وزن کم را افزایش می دهد.
نوزادان با وزن کم احتمالاٌ 40 برابر بیشتر از نوزادان با وزن طبیعی، در طی دوران نوزادی در خطر مرگ قرار دارند.
نوزادان با وزن کم، که در دوره نوزادی، زنده می مانند در معرض خطراتی چون افزایش ناهنجاری های ارثی، اختلالات تنفسی و ناتوانی در تکامل سیستم عصبی هستند، بنابراین پیشگیری ازایجاد این وضعیت لازم است.
یافته های جدید نشان داده اند که بیماری های لثه می توانند اثر مهمی در بروز بیماری های قلبی، سکته مغزی، بیماری های تنفسی، تولد نوزادان نارس و کم وزن داشته باشند.
در صورتی که بهداشت والدین مناسب نباشد میکروب های دهان آن ها به کودکانشان منتقل شده و آن ها را نیز مستعد پوسیدگی و بیماری های لثه می کند.
پس با رعایت بهداشت دهان و دندان بر سلامت خود و جنین تاثیر مثبت بگذارید.
